Flourish for Shakespeare was commissioned by the Shakespeare Birthday Celebrations Committee for the ceremonial unfurling of the flags on Shakespeare’s birthday in Stratford-upon-Avon in April 2000. This version for larger forces was arranged for the tenth anniversary concert of Birmingham Symphonic Winds, which took place at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Centre, Birmingham on 16th November 2002.
